Czech: ú and ů
Czech words typically start with ú; native roots internally and endings often use ů. A prefix does not erase an initial ú: ne-úspěch. Thus “always ů inside a word” is wrong.
| Example | Reasoning |
|---|---|
| úspěch → neúspěch | The prefix ne- preserves ú at the start of the original base. |
| dům → domy | The alternation with o helps recall ů in this native word. |
