Rearrange a parallelogram without changing its area
Cut off the end triangle and move it to the other side. You obtain a rectangle with the same base and height.
| Relation | Meaning |
|---|---|
| S = a × h | Multiply base by its perpendicular height. |
| S = 7 × 4 | Substitute the lengths. |
| S = 28 cm² | Rearrangement preserves the 28 cm² area. |
One worked example
- S = a × hMultiply base by its perpendicular height.
- S = 7 × 4Substitute the lengths.
- S = 28 cm²Rearrangement preserves the 28 cm² area.
Watch out: The height depends on the chosen base. Match them correctly.
